About our studio
Shade Abdul Architecture is a RIBA chartered practice based in London. Our aspiration is to create impactful places and buildings for our clients and the people that occupy those spaces. We believe that the sense of ownership is influenced by the level of participation. With this belief, we are committed to a design process that realises the aspirations of our clients and all other stakeholders. We enjoy playing with light and materials, but get very excited about creating architecture that continually adapts and evolves to the needs of its users.
Shade Abdul, Founder
Shade studied architecture at the University for the Creative Arts in Canterbury and the Bartlett School of Architecture in London, where she pursued her interests in interactive architectural environments. Photographic skills developed before her architectural training have led to investigations into light and time, materials and structures.
She has worked in award winning architectural practices, including Wilkinson Eyre Architects and SpaceLab. Her experience range from one-off residential projects for private clients to commercial interiors and high street retail developments.
Passionate about creating elegant and sustainable design for communities unable to access such architectural services, she has previously worked with Architecture for Humanity, UK.
